    I’m a new user of Mu. When I use the “read more” in a post, it shows as >> >>. On other themes I was able to have “read more”. Any way to modify this? My audience needs it spelled out.

    You can change the more link text with any theme by adding some code to the functions.php file.

    add_filter( 'the_content_more_link', 'my_more_link', 10, 2 );

    function my_more_link( $more_link, $more_link_text ) {
    return str_replace( $more_link_text, 'Continue reading →', $more_link );
    }

    Thanks! That works.

    Will this survive updates?

    No, unless you put it in the functions.php of a child theme.

    See http://themeloom.com/2011/04/how-to-customise-mu-or-any-wordpress-theme/

    If you are going to be making a few tweaks to css or adding stuff like this to functions.php, this will protect your edits when you update the theme.
