Sorry to (potentially) be a pain, but I have been trying to set the gallery config to show 4 images across a page, but it just won’t do it.

Is there something wrong in my setup or is it a bug? or am I missing something?

Setting posts_per_row to 4 should do it.

    Just tried it here: http://xi.hydeinternet.com/gallery-four-col/

Perhaps I am not explaining myself well. I am not using the gallery template (and if I was I assume that that “posts_per_row” is a custom field? Is that documented somewhere?

    Anyway back to my issue…

As I said, I am not using the gallery template. I am using the default template, and inserting a native wordpress gallery and setting the “Gallery Columns” (under “Gallery Settings”) to “4”. But it only puts three images across the available width of the body area, with a lot of space between them – which looks a bit daft.

Is there anything that can be done: here’s what it looks like at runtime…

Ah, you are using native galleries. In which case you don’t need to use the Gallery Template – this is a template which will displays a set of posts in a gallery format using custom fields as defined here: http://themeloom.com/support/theme-docs/xi-user-guide/.

This post in the demo is using native WP galleries: http://xi.hydeinternet.com/2008/06/10/post-format-test-gallery/. This page is using the gallery template: http://xi.hydeinternet.com/gallery/

Looks like our theme could handle the native gallery better. We seem to gave hard-coded a 3 column layout. You can either wait for next update or I can email you the fix.

Yes, the gallery page set up looks great but in this context making a separate post for every image is unnecessasarily burdensome for the end user – just need a gallery within the page.

If it’s going to be a few days/week then I’ll wait – if longer I’d like the fix please.

BTW great uncomplicated theme for teaching non-tech/non-web church admin types (and pastors) how to use it!
