    In order to have a Search on the home page – I have placed it in the Footer. The problem is that since the Footer is black when you type text it is grey and hard to see – how can I change it so that the text is visible, while not causing trouble in the Search widget I have added in the sidebar for the rest of the site?

    Style it specifically for the footer, so something like:

    #footer #s {

    background-color: #fff;
    color: #333;
    }

    That’s great – thanks! I can just add that to my Child Theme, correct?

    Thanks! Here’s what I went with:

    #footer #s {

    background-color: #727272;
    color: #fff;
    }
