I’m trying to use the posts/page shortcode to return the featured image and page title of 3 child pages into the parent page.

I put the pageID of the parent page into the shortcode but it returned the child pages for a different parent page (if you know what I mean).

Any ideas on how to find teh catID to use other than writing some code in some php file (which I dont frankly understand how I will get the answer!)

    Any suggestions/help hugely appreciated.

    Hi,
Sounds like parent_id and cat_id are mixed up.

With post type of pages you have to use the parent_id parameter.
With post type of posts you use the cat_id parameter.

The parent page can be identified using the guidance here:
    http://themeloom.com/support/framework-codex/show-postspages-shortcode/

The cat_id, can be found in the same way – edit the category and the number is found in the page URL.

    Hope this helps.

Yes, these can be tricky to find. In older version it used to be a column in the categories page.

As Roger says, for pages you need to use parent_id not cat_id. And also set post_type to “pages”.
