    Hi,

I modified the default item-event.php and template-events.php in my child theme to list my events as excerpts.

Now I’ve run into a problem where the single view of the event shows up as an excerpt too. I assume template-events.php and item-event.php are still being called.

I’ve tried to upload single-event.php, which is essentially a copy of single.php. This is the format I want to use instead. I’ve double-checked in custom-events.php that the custom post type is called ‘event’, so I expected that single-event.php would take precedence over template-events.php.

    Here are my test pages:

Index of events (showing how I want): http://test.chefstablesociety.com/events/

Single event view (still showing like in index, instead of full content): http://test.chefstablesociety.com/event/chefs-kegger-2012/

What do I need to do instead?

    Thanks,
    Karen

custom-event.php is the file that is looked for with a single event.

item-event is then referenced by this file.

You could create a custom-event.php in your child theme to do all the work.
